چکیده

With the prevalence of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) in many standards, e.g., IEEE 802.11, 802.16, DVB-T, and DVB-T2, a number variant modulation schemes based on OFDM have been proposed, which resort to signal sparsity further enhance spectral efficiency mitigate high peak-to-average ratio (PAPR) problem. Among these variants, with subcarrier (OFDM-SNM) has proven be efficient for simple communication systems low constellation orders limited decoding capability. To rigorously verify performance advantages OFDM-SNM, we present study OFDM-SNM this paper from information-theoretic perspective. In particular, determine an upper bound mutual information closed form by using log sum inequality. Also, analyze optimal pattern utilization probabilities (PUPs) channel-dependent coding propose easy-to-implement iterative algorithm approach PUPs. Moreover, considering practical achievability, Huffman achievable PUP vector construction scheme obtain PUPs corresponding rate. We carry out numerical simulations effectiveness illustrate obtained comparison several benchmarks.

A Novel Power Distribution Scheme Combined with Adaptive Modulation Based on Subcarrier Grouping for OFDM Systems

In this paper, we propose to adapt both the modulation scheme and the transmit power in the frequency domain using a heuristic evaluation of the bit error rate (BER) for each subcarrier. The proposed method consists in ordering in terms of fading impact, grouping a certain number of subcarriers and performing local power adaptation in each subcarrier group. The subcarrier grouping is performed ...

Adaptive Subcarrier Assignment and Power Distribution in Multiuser OFDM Systems with Proportional Data Rate Requirement

A low complexity dynamic subcarrier and power allocation methodology for downlink communication in an OFDM-based multiuser environment is developed. The problem of maximizing overall capacity with constraints on total power consumption, bit error rate and data rate proportionality among users requiring different QOS specifications is formulated. Assuming perfect knowledge of the instantaneo...

Evaluation Performance of OFDM Mutlicarrier Modulation over Rayleigh and RicianStandard Channels Using WPT-OFDM Modulations

Last years, Wavelet Packet Modulation (WPM) or Wavelet Packet Transform based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (WPT-OFDM) have been introduced to wired and wireless communication fields as efficient Multicarrier Modulation (MCM) techniques. The wavelets have interesting features such as flexibility, compatibility and localization in both time and frequency domains with no need to use ...

Multiuser MIMO-OFDM systems using subcarrier hopping

Recently space division multiple access (SDMA) assisted multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems invoking multiuser detection (MUD) techniques have attracted substantial research interest, which is capable of exploiting both transmitter multiplexing gain and receiver diversity gain. A new scheme referred to here as slowsubcarrierhopping (SS...

Adaptive Subcarrier Allocation for OFDM Relay System

This paper proposes two scheduling algorithms for subcarrier allocation of OFDM relay system, enhanced two-hop adaptive proportional fairness (E-THAPF) and user-number-dynamic two-hop adaptive proportional fairness (UND-THAPF), aiming to improve the performance of the traditional two-hop proportional fairness (THPF) scheduling algorithm. By modifying the priority of the two hops in THPF in an a...
